Spring Clean Your Life
Spring Clean Your Life
In London, the blossoms are coming out, the birds are tweeting, the sun is warming and we all take a deep breath! During my Teacher Training course, my Yoga Teacher, Randall O'Leary of Jungle Yoga said "Make Space for Magic" and this has been my motto ever since. In order to allow great new things into your life, you have to make space: let go of that which no longer serves you.
Here's 5 things you can do to Spring Clean your life today:
Clean out your closet
Tack a bag and commit to fill it with things to donate to a local refugee centre and you'll be surprised how much you have that you really don't need. When I was traveling I had a "one out, one in" policy - whereby if I bought something, I would have get rid of something... Now I am not traveling I can hoard to my heart's content, but suddenly I feel congested with "stuff". I invite you to join me in this exercise: consider how many new "things" you have acquired over the last month; and now consider getting rid of twice as much now.
There's so much to say under this heading. But for now, just two things:
- Citrus fruits and berries are great sources of antioxidants: Antioxidants collect free radicals in the system and clear them out.
- Eat more plants, eat fewer animal products: Eating plants over animals is good for your body, good for the world and great for our fellow animals.
Essential Oils can be great sources of antioxidants also. I use doTERRA essential oils because they are pure, natural and therapeutic grade. Rubbing oils on the belly or on the soles of the feet can have great benefits. Good antioxidising oils include clove, lemon. parsley/cilantro, wild orange, cinnamon and ginger. Contact me if you'd like more info about how to use Essential Oils in this way. I'm happy to pass on more info...
Do some Yoga to physically help the body to detox - massage the organs with some deep and delicious twists. By wringing out the body, you encourage the flow of fluids that move toxins out of the system.
Breath is your life-force and energy source. Your breath is also the vehicle on which many toxins are able to leave the body. Breathe consciously; breathe deeply; twist and lengthen and breathe into all the nooks and crannies in the lungs.
